I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate at FAST Lab, Western University (Canada). I obtained my Ph.D. in Design (with Honors) in 2024 from Politecnico di Milano (Italy), Design Department, working at the intersection of design research and materials engineering for additive manufacturing and circular economy. Through my research experience as a Research Fellow (2019-2024) at Politecnico di Milano (Department of Chemistry, Materials, and Chemical Engineering "Giulio Natta"), I had the opportunity to merge design research and materials engineering, gaining expertise at the intersection of the two disciplines.

My research experience and background merge product and engineering design with materials engineering and design. I received my BSc in Product Design in 2015 and my MSc in Design & Engineering (full marks) in 2018 from Politecnico di Milano, with a thesis focused on the codesign of Open Source 3D-printed, customized assistive technology developed at +LAB. From 2017 to 2024, I was part of +Lab, the first 3D printing lab at Politecnico di Milano, and I joined the Materials Design for Transitions Research Group after starting my Ph.D. path in 2020. I worked as a visiting Ph.D. candidate at FAST Lab from fall 2022 to spring 2023, exploring open design and distributed recycling for additive manufacturing. During my studies, I also worked as a designer in the household appliances and textile fields.

Besides my main research activity, I collaborate as a teaching assistant, course tutor, and guest lecturer in design and engineering, and I also supervise, co-supervise, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students working on sustainability, materials, and digital fabrication. I have also served as a reviewer and committee member for journals and conferences in sustainability, additive manufacturing, materials, and design... and much more! 🙂
